Rethymno does not have its own airport. The nearest airports are Chania International Airport "Ioannis Daskalogiannis" (CHQ), about 60 km west, and Heraklion International Airport "Nikos Kazantzakis" (HER), about 80 km east.
Rethymno's Old Town is extremely accessible on foot, as it is small and most attractions are within walking distance. The coastal road is also ideal for walking.

The best time to visit Rethymno is in the spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) for mild temperatures and fewer crowds. Summer (June-August) is ideal for the beaches, but the city is busier.
