A series of about 22 old watermills, some of which are preserved in relatively good condition, along the stream that crosses the Mylopotamos gorge. These mills constitute an important monument of the island's industrial heritage and bear witness to the old economic life of the village.

Kythira Island National Airport 'Alexandros Aristotelous Onassis' (KIT) is the closest airport, about 23 kilometers from Mylopotamos.

Spring and autumn are the ideal seasons to visit Mylopotamos, as the weather is mild and nature is at its peak, offering perfect conditions for hiking. Summer is also a good choice, especially if you want to combine the exploration of the village with swimming in the island's nearby beaches.
Kythira has a Health Center in Chora and rural clinics in various villages. For more serious incidents, transfer to a hospital on mainland Greece may be required.
An impressive visitable cave with rich stalactite and stalagmite decoration, located near Mylopotamos. Inside, it houses a small church with important 13th-century Byzantine frescoes. It is also connected with myths and legends, such as that of Paris and Helen of Troy.

The preserved settlement of Kato Chora is a ruined Venetian settlement, dominated by the Venetian castle with the lion of Saint Mark. Inside the castle there are houses and Byzantine churches, creating a unique setting that transports the visitor to other eras.
